AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ADDING SECTION 3.18. 158 TO TITLE
3 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING VOLUNTARY
EXTRA DUTY OF POLICE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 3.18.158 is hereby added to Chapter 3.18 of
Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
3.18. 158 Voluntary Extra Duty of Police. Officers and members
of the Police Department may voluntarily accept extra-duty assign-
ments for regular police work at public gatherings and functions
held on behalf of any of the schools within the City, or at any
function held at the Civic Auditorium, provided such employment
does not exceed 50 hours in any calendar month and may receive
extra compensation from the affected school district or from funds
held by the Auditorium-Recreation Department for such purpose,
for the performance of such duties in accordance with per-hour
rates of compensation fixed by agreement between the Chief of
Police and the school district or between the Chief of Police
and the Auditorium-Recreation Manager. Under such circumstances
this section shall prevail over other provisions of this Chapter.
Members of the police reserve established by Section 3.30.020
of this title may serve gratuitously to assist regular police
officers at such public gatherings and functions.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage..
