HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2173 ORDINANCE NO. 2173 NEW SERIES AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 17.56.020 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, PROVIDING FOR AUTOMOBILE OFF-STREET PARKING REQUIREMENTS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 17.56.020 of Chapter 17.56 of Title 17 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows: 17.56.020 Schedule of Off-street Parkin.~ .Requirements. Off-street parking facilities shall be provided and maintained for the following specified uses o~r facilities as follows: Required Off-Street Specified Use Parking Facility (1) One-family dwellings 2 spaces per dwelling unit (2) Multiple-family dwellings 1 1/3 spaces per unit plus 1/3 1-6 units (where units are space for guests per unit on lots subdivided prior t° April 10, 1974 (3) Multiple-family dwellings 1 3/4 spaces per unit plus 1/3 1-6 units (where units are space per unit for guests on lots subdivided after April 10, 1974 (4) Multiple-family dwellings 2 = spaces per unit plus 1/3 7-20 units space per unit for guests (5) Multiple-family dwellings ~[2' spaces per unit plus 1/3 21-50 units space per unit for guests (6) Multiple-family dwellings 2 spaces per unit plus 1/3 51 or more units space per unit for guests (7) Multiple-family dwellings 2 spaces per unit plus 1/2 3 or more bedrooms space per unit for guests Required guest parking for multiple-family dwellings as shown in items (2) through (7) may be provided in the parking lane within the public street adja- cent to the affected property on the basis of 24 lineal feet per parking space; provided, that corner radii, curb returns, driveways and the area within 15 feet of a fire hydrant may not be used in calculating the required guest parking spaces. (8) Hospitals, sanitariums, 1 space per bed asylums, club hotels, board- ing and rooming houses Required Off-Street Specified Us& Parking Facility (9) Convalescent hospitals, an 3/4 space per bed extended medical care facllzty (10) Nursing and convalescent homes, 1/2 space per bed rest homes and ho~es for the aged (11) Hotel and motels 1 parking space per sleeping Additional parking required unit for meeting rooms~ restaurants, bars and office space (12) Delicatessens and'take-out 1 parking space for each 300 food (not to be eaten on square feet premises) retail!shops, Minimum of 5 parking spaces general co~ercia! (other required than listed) and auto repair (13) Restaurants, bars~ skating 1 parking space for each 100 rinks, public gyms, dance square feet of floor space halls, and swimming pools (pool and deck ar~a) (14) Lodge halls, banquet rooms, 1 parking space for each 5 churches, funerallhomes, seats provided. (24) Medical offices 1 space per 200 sq. ft. (25) Manufacturing, wholesale plus 1 space per 500 sq. ft. for office space for above 1 space per 300 sq. ft. (26) Beauty and barberI shops 1 space per 100 sq. ft. or ~ minimum of 2 spaces for each barber or styling chair which- ever is greater (27) Contractor's storage yards, 1 space for each permanently public utilities iservice yards, assigned company vehicle plus public buildings and grounds 1 space for each two employees other than admini:strative on the maximum working shift offices (an employee is defined as a perslon stationed or working out ofl the storage or service yard) ~ (28) Nursery sales, vehicle sales 1 space per 4000 square feet areas, trailer and camper sales of inside or outside sales areas, boat and farm machinery area sales areas~ (29) Electric distribution substations, electric transmission sub- stations, gas regulator stations, public utility p~umping stations No parking required and automatic communications equipment buildings where there are no permanent ~employees assigned (30) Veterinarian hospitals and 1 space per 500 sq. ft. with a clinics minimum of one and one-half parking spaces for each employee SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from and after the date of its passage. o0o ..........
