AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 6.30.020
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, CONCERNING THE
TRANSFER OF DUTIES OF CITY OFFICERS TO
APPROPRIATE COUNTY OFFICERS WITH RESPECT
TO THE PROPERTY TAX.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 6.30.020 of Chapter 6.30 of Title 6 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is, for the purpose of
clarification only, hereby amended to read as follows:
6.30.020 Transfer of Duties~ State Law Applicable. The duties
of the City Council, Assessor, Tax Collector, Auditor and City
Clerk of the City of Bakersfield with respect to the assessment
of property in the City for the purpose of ad valorem taxation
thereof, to the equalization and correction for such assessments,
to the collection, payment and enforcement of such taxes hereafter
becoming a lien, to the sale of property for nonpayment of such
taxes levied for municipal purposes, and to the redemption of such
property from sale or other penalties for nonpayment of the Municipal
taxes of said City, shall be performed by the officers of the County
of Kern charged respectively with the performance of duties of the
same character as the officers of the City whose duties are to be
performed by such county officers. Ail duties now being performed
by the above-mentioned City officers which are not specifically
transferred by the provisions of this chapter shall continue to
be performed in accordance with the applicable laws of the City.
Ail the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 2, Division 1 of Title 5
of the Govem~ment Code of the State of California, (commencing
with Section 51500) are applicable to the City of Bakersfield and
all provisions of the Charter concerning the assessment, levy and
collection of taxes are subject to the provisions of this chapter.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is intended as a clarification of existing
law.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a budget
meeting thereof held on the 22nd day of July, 1974, by the follow-
ing vote:
