WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for the d~ily ooera-
tlon of a municipal department,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF TM!< '~ITY
OF B~MERSFIELD, as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 2 of Ordinance No. gl New Series of the
City of Bakersfield, be amended to read as follows, to-wit:
SEC TI ON 2.
That Subdivision 9 of Section 17 of Ordinance No. 548
New Series, be ~mended to read as follows:
9. Contractors.
For every person, firm or ~orporat~on engaged in the busi-
ness or acting in the capacity of a Class "A" Contractor, the lic-
ense fee shall be one hundred ($100.00) dollars per year, payable
in advance for each fiscal year, beginn~.ng July 1.
For every Detach, firm or ~,orporstion engaged in the busi-
ness or acting in the capncity of a Class "B" Contractor, the lic-
ense fee shall be fifty ($50.00) dollars per year, payable in ad-
vance for es. ch fiscal ~vear, beginning July 1.
For every person, firm or ~o~poration engaged in the busi-
ness or acting in the capacity of a Class "C" Contractor, the lic-
ense fee shall be twenty ($20.00) per year, payable euarterly.
Every person, firm or corpor£tion engaged in the business
or acting in the capacity of s Class "D" Contractor shall procure a
license for each contract, and said license fee shall be one dollar
($1.oo).
Provided, however, that any contr, ctor paying a license
fee in any given class, and who aha]] have received a permit there-

under may perform work under any cl~ssif~c~tion not requiring a
gre~ter fee.
SECTION 2.
This emergency ordinance ahal~ be in effect on and after the 2nd
day of December, 19~1.
