AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ~MENDING SECTION 11.04.620 (C)
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD PERTAINING TO ONE-WAY STREETS
AND ALLEYS.
WHEREAS, Section 24 of the City Charter allows the
adoption of an emergency ordinance for the i~,ediate preservation
of the public health, peace, property or safety of the City of
Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, due to the installation of divider islands in
California Avenue at the intersection of Alpine Street and California
Avenue which would create a hazard for automobile users proceeding
easterly onto California Avenue in the face of oncoming traffic; and
WHEREAS, by making Alpine Street at the intersection of
California Avenue to Kern Street a one-way street east to west,
such hazard would be eliminated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 11.04.620 (C) of the Municipal Code is amended
to read as follows:
C. In accordance with Section 11.04.180, and when properly
signposted, traffic shall move only in the direction indicated upon
the following streets:
1. WEST TO EAST:
Monte Vista Drive .... Panorama Drive to Pasatiempo Drive.
Niles Street ....... Beginning at a point two hundred
seventy-six feet east of the
intersection of the center-lines
of Niles Street and Brown Street.
23rd Street ...... Beginning at a point 67 feet east
of the intersection of the center-
lines of 24th Street and "B" Street
and ending at a point on 24th
Street at the intersection of the
center-lines of 24th Street and
"Q" Street via two connections
between 23rd Street and 24th Street
to be constructed by the Department
of Public Works of the State of
California.
18th Street ...... Baker Street to Kern Street.
Monterey Street .... Beginning at a point 162 feet east
of the intersection of the center-
lines of Niles Street and Stockton
Street and ending at a point on
Niles Street one hundred seventy-
six feet east of the intersection
of the center-lines of Niles Street
and Brown Street via a connection
between Monterey Street and Niles
Street to be constructed by the
Department of Public Works of the
State of California.
24th Street ...... Beginning at a point at the inter-
Section of the center-lines of 24th
street and "Q" Street and ending at
a point sixty-seven feet east of the
intersection of the center-lines of
24th Street and "B" Street.
2. EAST TO WEST:
Alpine Street ..... California Avenue to Kern Street.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Emergency Ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 6th day of July, 1970, by
the following vote:
