AN ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 2.51 OF
THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO PARKS.

2.51.010, Office Created.
A. There is hereby created a City of Bakersfield Department of Recreation and
Parks.
B. The Department of Recreation and Parks shall be under the supervision and
direction of a Director of Recreation and Parks who shall be appointed by
the City Manager.
C. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Recreation and Parks, all
regular employees of the Department of Recreation and Parks shall maintain
their existing titles and civil service status.
2,51.020. Director of Recreation and Parks - Duties & Responsibilities Generally.
A. The duties of the Director of Recreation and Parks shall be as follows:
1. Supervise the activities of employees in that Department;
2. Prepare or cause to be prepared the annual budget for the
Department of Recreation and Parks for approval by the City
Council;
3. Attend meetings, consult with, and advise the City Manager on
Recreation and Park matters;
4. Maintain Recreation and Park records;
5. Recommend the adoption of standards for parks, facilities, program
and financial support;

Promulgate rules and regulations for the conduct of activities within
City parks and recreational areas for the preservation of property
and the orderly use of said property.
Uphold the laws and ordinances governing City parks.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held onJUH 2 ~, ~ by the
