AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 3.40.020 A., OF
THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO
TRANSIENT LODGING TAX.
BE
as follows:
Section 3.40.020 A.
IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
SECTION 1.
of the Bakersfield MunicipJl Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
3.40.020 Tax imposed - Rate Revenue measure.
A. Effective on and after August 1, 1983, there is
imposed and levied on each and every transient a tax equivalent
to ten percent (10%) of the total amount paid for room rental by
and for any such transient to any hotel; which tax shall be
collected from the transient at the time and in the manner provided
in Section 3.40.030.
SECTION 2.
This Emergency Ordinance is necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health, peace, property and safety,
is necessary for the appropriation of money, and shall become
effective immediately upon its passage.
