NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 15.64.180 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO SUPER-
VISION IN DISPENSING CLASS I LIQUIDS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 15.64.180 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
15.64.180 Section 79.703(b) amended Supervision.
Section 79.703(b) of the Uniform Fire Code is amended
to read as follows:
(b) Supervision.
1. If the dispensing of Class I liquids at a
service station available to and open to the public or at a card-
lock, key, or similar membership or account-only service station
is to be done by a person other than a service station attendant,
each nozzle for the dispensing of such liquids shall be a listed,
automatic-closing type without a latch-open device.
2. Approved special dispensing devices such as,
but not limited to, remote preset types are permitted at service
stations provided that emergency controls are installed and are
operational at a location acceptable to the Chief of the Fire
Prevention Bureau, and, except at membership or account-only
service stations, the dispensing of Class I liquids is under the
observation and control of a competent attendant at all times.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
City Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
