AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 2.16 OF TITLE 2,
SECTIONS 2.16.010, 2.16.020 AND ADDING SUB-
SECTION (H) TO SECTION 2.16.030.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
has determined that the Agricultural Water, Domestic Water and
Wastewater Divisions are becoming increasingly interrelated; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
has determined that a reorganization of these divisions would
result in substantial annual savings and at the same time provide
a more efficient operation; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Chapter 2.16 of Title 2 of the Bakersfield Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.16 Water Resources Department
SECTION 2.
That Section 2.16.010 of Chapter 2.16 of Title 2 of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.16.'010 Creation of Department
There is created a Water Resources Department and the
office of Director of Water Resources.
SECTION 3.
That Section 2.16.020 of Chapter 2.16 of Title 2 of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
2.16.020 Director of Water Resources - Supervisory Duties
The Director of Water Resources, who shall be appointed
by the City Manager, shall have general supervision over the
department.
SECTION 4.
That Section 2.16.030 of Chapter 2.16 of Title 2 of
the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
2.16.030 Director of Water Resources - Duties Generally
SECTION 5.
That Section 2.16.030 of Chapter 2.16 of Title 2 of
the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding
Subsection (H) to read as follows:
(H) Supervise the activities of the Agricultural Water,
Domestic Water and Wastewater Divisions of the department.
SECTION 6.
This Ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
City Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its passage.
