RESOLUTION NO. 28 5 - 0 6
A RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST TO
FILE EXTENSION OF TIME WITH THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA, DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, FOR THE MOHAWK
STREET GRADE SEPARATION FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield received a Section 190 allocation for the
construction of Mohawk Street Grade Separation at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe
railroad mainline (Project identified as Project Number GS 6100 by the State); and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield has completed all preliminary engineering, right
of way engineering, and has made offers to purchase the necessary right of way to
complete said project; and
WHEREAS, the Mohawk Street Grade Separation Project is part of a larger project
within the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) known as the Westside
Parkway Project; and
WHEREAS, the Westside Parkway Project has been delayed due to the Federal
Highway Administration's review of the environmental document; and
WHEREAS, the draft environmental document for the project is complete, has been
circulated, and the final environmental document for the project will be approved by both
Federal and State agencies in late 2006; and
WHEREAS, construction for Wests ide Parkway Project, which includes as a first
phase the Mohawk Street Grade Separation Project, will begin in late 2007.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The City Council approves the filing of an extension of time request with the
State of California, Department of Transportation, for the Mohawk Grade
Separation Project.
