AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 17.20 OF THE
BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SECTIONS 17.20.020, 17.20.030 AND 17.20.040
AND BY ADDING SECTION 17.20.035 RELATIVE
TO C-O ZONE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 17.20.020B of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
17.20.020 Uses Permitted.
B. Any of the following uses:
1. Bank and savings and loan institution;
2. Collection agency;
3. Escrow company;
4. Office, business and professional;
5. Palm reading;
6. Pharmacy, prescription and medical lab;
7. Photographic shop or studio;
8. Post office;
9. Radio broadcasting studio;
10. Title insurance company;
11. Travel bureau;
12. Trust company;
13. The accessory buildings or structures necessary
to such use located on the same lot or parcel of
land.
SECTION 2.
Subsection C is hereby added to Section 17.20.020 of
Chapter 17.20 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code to read as follows:
17.20.020.C. Temporary offices including portable, modular or
prefabricated structures constructed in conformance with the
uniform codes adopted by the City of Bakersfield (Title 15 of the
Bakersfield Municipal Code) and not attached to permanent foundations
may be allowed for a period not to exceed two (2) years, plus one
(1) year extension subject to the approval of the Planning Commission.
SECTION 3.
Section 17.20.030 of the Bakersfield
hereby amended to read as follows:
Municipal Code is
17.20.030 Uses Permitted Subject to Conditional Use Permit.
Any of the following uses:

K.
Antique shops: sale of antique household
furniture, antique bric-a-brac, curios and objects
d'art, wholly within a building. Sale of second-
hand furniture, wares or merchandise is prohibited;
Bail bond office;
Barbershop and beauty shop;
Bookstore;
Dressmaking or millinery shop;
Florist shop;
Frame shop, pictures;
Gift shop;
Nursery (flowers and plants);
Police/fire alarm centers;
Printing shops conducted primarily on a "while-
you-wait" basis;
Restaurants, including sale of alcoholic beverages
when served together with and incidental to the
serving of food or in a cocktail lounge as an
accessary use to the restaurant;
Stationery store;
Tailor shop;
Telephone answering service.
SECTION 4.
Section 17.20.040 of Chapter 17.20 of the Bakersfield
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
17.20.040 Building Height. Building height shall be four (4)
stories and not to exceed sixty-five (65) feet.
SECTION 5.
Section 17.20.035 is hereby added to Chapter 17.20 of
the Bakersfield Municipal Code to read as follows:
17.20.035 Site Plan Review. All permitted and conditional
uses pursuant to this Chapter shall be subject to site plan
review as provided in Chapter 17.53.

SECTION 6.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30)
from and after the date of its passage.
