A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COLLECTION
OF ASSESSMENTS BY THE KERN COUNTY TAX
COLLECTOR FOR ABATEMENT OF PUBLIC NUISANCES, DEMOLITIONS, OR FOR
STRUCTURES THAT HAVE BEEN SECURED AGAINST ENTRY
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bakersfield has
adopted Resolutions 125-97, 126-97, 131-97, 146-97, 147-97, 155-97,
156-97, 165-92 172-97, 191-97, 13-98, 14-98, 44-98, 45-98, and 91-
98 confirming the reports of the Building Director regarding
assessments of certain properties in the City of Bakersfield for
abatement of public nuisances, demolitions, or for structures that
have been secured against entry; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Code Chapter 8.80 requires that in the
event such charges assessed and confirmed against the properties as
listed in Exhibit "A" of the declaration of Gilbert Rojas,
Assistant Finance Director, attached hereto, are not paid in full
by June 30, 1998, the Assistant Finance Director shall cause the
amount of said assessments remaining unpaid against the property to
be entered and extended on the property tax roll, and pursuant to
law, the County Tax Collector shall include them on the tax bill
applicable to the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield:
1. The above recitals are found to be true and correct.
2. The charges assessed and confirmed against the
properties as contained in the declaration of Gilbert Rojas,
Assistant Finance Director, attached hereto and made a part hereof
by this reference, have not been paid as of June 30, 1998.
3. The Tax Collector of the County of Kern, and such
other County officers as may be required, are hereby authorized to
place the above-mentioned assessments on the 1998-99 secured roll
of the County and collect such assessments in the same manner as ad
valorem property taxes.
4. The City Clerk shall transmit said assessments to
the Assistant Finance Director with instructions to submit same to
the Kern County Auditor-Controller and Tax Collector.
5. The assessments enumerated herein are not subject to
the provisions of Proposition 218.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed

I, Gilbert Rojas, declare:
i am the duly appointed Assistant Finance Director of the City of Bakersfield,
California. I am making this declaration pursuant to Chapter 8.80 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
2. Pursuant to Resolution No's 125-97, 126-97, 131-97, 146-97, 147-97, 155-97, 156-
97, 165-92 172-97, 191-97, 13-98, 14-98, 44-98, 45-98, and 91-98 passed and adopted by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield, the assessments for certain properties in the City of Bakersfield
attached hereto as Exhibit "A" for abatement of public nuisances, demolitions, or structures that have
been secured against entry have been confirmed.
3 The charges assessed and confirmed against the properties as listed in Exhibits "A"
have not been paid as of June 30, 1998
4. The foregoing matters are within my personal knowledge and, if called as a witness
herein, I could and would competently testify thereto.
