NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTIONS 7.18.010 AND
7.18.020 AND REPEALING SECTIONS 7.18.030
THROUGH 7.18.220 OF THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL
CODE, RELATIVE TO SECONDHAND DEALERS, PAWN
BROKERS AND JUNK DEALERS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 7.18.010 of the Bakersfield Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
7.18.010 General Application. The provisions of this Chapter
apply to each person, co-partnership, firm and corporation whose
activities fall within the definition of "secondhand dealer" set
forth in Section 21626 of the California Business and Professions
Code.
SECTION 2.
That Section 7.18.020 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
7.18.020 Compliance With State Law. Each person, co-partnership,
firm and corporation to whom this Chapter applies shall conduct
each business transaction as a secondhand dealer in strict compliance
with the requirements of State law, specifically including (but
not limited to) Articles 3, 4 and 5 of Chapter 9 of Division 8 of
the California Business and Professions Code.
SECTION 3.
That Sections 7.18.030, 7.18.040, 7.18.050, 7.18.060,
7.18.070, 7.18.080, 7.18.085, 7.18.090, 7.18.110, 7.18.120,
7.18.130, 7.18.[40, 7.18.150, 7.18.160, 7.18.170, 7.18.180,
7.18.190, 7.18.200, 7.18.210, and 7.18.220 of the Bakersfield
Municipal Code are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with
the City Charter provisions and shall become effective
thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 7th day of October , 1981, by
