AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 10.24.025
RELATING TO DISPLAYING MERCHANDISE ON SIDE-
WALKS, CHANGING THE VALIDITY OF THE PERMIT
FROM 24 HOURS TO 72 HOURS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 10.24.025 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Bakersfield is amended to read as follows:
10.24.025 Permit for use of public sidewalks. Persons,
firms or corporations, having a fixed place of business within
the City of Bakersfield or non-profit organizations for promo-
tional events on behalf of their organizations, upon application
to the City Manager, may obtain a permit to display merchandise
upon the sidewalk immediately in front of the fixed place of
business, or in the case of non-profit organizations at a place
designated by the City Manager. Said permit shall contain such
conditions as the City Manager may impose with respect to traffic
and pedestrian travel on the streets and sidewalks in the vicinity
of said display. No such permits shall be issued in excess of
three per year, and no such permit shall be valid for a period of
time in excess of seventy-two hours for any person, firm, cor-
poration or non-profit organization.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
City Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 2~th day of August , 1981, by
