HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2642EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 2642 NEW SERIES AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 11.04.620 OF THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SUBSECTION 5, RELATIVE TO DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC ON BEACH PARK STREETS, NORTH OF 21ST STREET. WHEREAS, the two-way traffic pattern on streets within Beach Park has periodically resulted in traffic congestion so extreme as to bring traffic to a standstill; and WHEREAS, the periodic blockage of traffic movement on such streets precludes access by emergency vehicles and consti- tutes therefore a threat to life and property; and WHEREAS, the Police Department and Public Works Depart- ment of the City have recommended to this Council that establish- ment of a one-way traffic pattern on streets within the Park will substantially alleviate such threat by reducing congestion and facilitating entry of emergency vehicles. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: Section amended by adding 11.04.620 5. SECTION 1. 11.04.620 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code thereto Subsection 5 to read as follows: One-way streets and Counterclockwise: Beach Park Streets alleys established. · North of 21st Street. SECTION 2. This ordinance is an Emergency Ordinance within the meaning of Section 24 of the City Charter and is to take effect upon passage by the City Council. ......... o0o .........
