NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD REPEALING SECTIONS 6.08.040(b) (4),
6.08.050(b) (3), AND 6.08.061 OF THE BAKERSFIELD
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATIVE TO SALES AND USE TAXES
AND 6.40.050 RELATIVE TO REAL PROPERTY TRANSFER
TAXES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Sections 6.08.040(b) (4), 6.08.050(b) (3) and 6.08.061 of
the Bakersfield Municipal Code are hereby repealed.
SECTION 2.
Section 6.40.050 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is
amended to read as follows:
6.40.050 Exemption--United States. The United States or any
agency or instrumentality thereof, any state or territory, or
political subdivision thereof, or the District of Columbia shall
not be liable for any tax imposed pursuant to this chapter with
respect to any deed, instrument, any instrument by which it
acquires title, or writing to which it is a party, but the tax may
be collected by assessment from any other party liable therefor.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
City Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30) days
from and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 10th day of December , 1980, by
