AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 8.48 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 8.48.055,
SUSPENDING THE REFUSE COLLECTION FEES FOR THE
PERIOD JULY 1, 1979, TO MAY 31, 1980.
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted its 1979-1980 fiscal year
operating budget on June 25, 1979; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to consider the financial
implications and effects of a suspension of the refuse charge on City
operations but does not desire to repeal or reduce the refuse charge
contained in Chapter 8.48 of the Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the suspension of said refuse charge must be for a
period sufficient to determine the financial implications and effects
on City operations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council will review the impact of a
suspension of the refuse charge in January, 1980.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 8.48.055 is hereby added to Chapter 8.48 of
the Municipal Code as follows:
8.48.055 Suspension of Fees.
a. The charges imposed in Section 8.48.030, 8.48.040 and
8.48.050 of this Chapter may be suspended from time to time by the
City Council.
b. The charges imposed in Section 8.48.030, 8.48.040 and
8.48.050 of this Chapter are suspended for the period July 1, 1979,
to May 31, 1980.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the City
Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30) days from
and after the date of its passage and shall be retroactive to July 1,
1979.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
