HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2509ORDINANCE NO. 2509 NEW SERIES AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING CHAPTER 3.18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SUBSECTIONS 3.18.140(c) (2), 3.18.140(d) (2) AND 3.18.154 RELATIVE TO OVERTIME AND COMPENSATORY TIME OFF FOR POLICE SUPERVISORY EMPLOYEES AND FIRE PREVENTION EMPLOYEES. follows: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as SECTION 1. Section 3.18.140(c) (2) of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.18.140(c) (2) Eligible employees designated by the letter (C) may be authorized payment at the regular straight-time rate for hours of authorized overtime worked in excess of the established work period, when the department head determines it is in the best interest of the operation of his department and the City of Bakersfield. Police Supervisory employees may be credited with overtime pay at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times the hours of authorized overtime worked in excess of the established work period. SECTION 2. Section 3.18.140(d) (2) of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.18.140(d) (2) Eligible employees designated by the letter (C) may be credited with compensatory time off at the regular straight-time rate for authorized overtime worked in excess of the established work period, in lieu of payment therefor under subsection (c) (2). Such compensatory time shall be taken off in accordance with the Admin- istrative Rules and Regulations. Police Supervisory employees may be credited with compensatory time off at one and one-half (1-1/2) times the hours of authorized overtime worked in excess of the established work period. SECTION 3. Section 3.18.154 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows: 3.18.154 Stand-by--Additional Compensation--Except Police and Fire Suppression--Fire Prevention Employees. If an employee, other than a Police or Fire Suppression employee, who is on call is not confined to his home or any particular place, but is required only to leave word where he may be by call are not working time. be on call under this section, reached, the hours spent on such stand- Any such employee who is requested to on his normal day off, shall be com- pensated at the rate of five dollars per 8-hour shift. Fire Prevention employees assigned to stand-by call on weekends shall be compensated at the rate of five dollars per 8-hour shift. SECTION 4. This ordinance is to become effective thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage and is to become operative on July 2, 1979. .......... o0o ..........
