AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 1.80.050 OF
CHAPTER 1.80 OF TITLE 1 OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, RESPECTING
EMERGENCY ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That the first paragraph of Section 1.80.050 of Chapter
1.80 of Title 1 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code is hereby amended
to read as follows:
1.80.050 Director and Assistant Director of Emergency Services -
Powers and Duties. There is hereby created the office of Director
of Emergency Services. The City Manager shall be the Director of
Emergency Services. There is also hereby created the office of
Assistant Director of Emergency Services. The Director of Fire and
Development Services shall be the Assistant Director of Emergency
Services and the Chief of Police and the Director of Public Works
shall serve as Deputy Directors of Emergency Services. The Assis-
tant Director shall perform the duties and responsibilities of the
Director during the absence or disability of the Director and shall
perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be ordered by
the Director. The Director is hereby empowered:
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the City
Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30) days from
and after the date of its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 31st day of January , 1979, by
