AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 17.56.010 AND
17.56.100 OF CHAPTER 17.56 (AUTOMOBILE
PARKING REQUIREMENTS) OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 17.56.010 of Chapter 17.56 (Automobile
Parking Requirements), of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakers-
field, is hereby amended by deleting subsection (f).
SECTION 2.
That Section 17.56.100 of Chapter 17.56 (Automobile
Parking Requirements), of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakers-
field, is hereby amended to read as follows:
17.56.100 Collectively Used Space--Leased Parking Spaces--
Exception to Yard Requirements--Paving and Additional Requirements.
Nothing in this title shall prohibit the collective use of space
for off-street parking, provided such collectively used space is
equal to the sum of the requirements of each individual estab-
lishment participating in such collective use.
ThE non-residential parking requirements of this chapter
may be satisfied by leasing the required parking spaces within 500
feet from the property for which the spaces are required. The
lease must be for a minimum period of five years and shall be sub-
ject to the approval of the Planning Director. The termination of
any parking lease shall require compliance with the parking require-
ments of this chapter.
Neither the area of a required side yard abutting a
street nor of a front yard shall be used for off-street parking
required by this chapter. Such provisions shall not apply in the
"P" Zone.
All off-street automobile parking areas including automo-
biles sales lots, service stations and other drive-in establishments
shall be fully hard-surfaced with asphaltic concrete, or any other
recognized street surfacing material, of minimum thickness of two
inches. The conditions for fences, walls, hedges, planting, drive-
ways, bumper guards, lighting, setbacks and drainage shall be as
provided for in Section 17.40.020.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage.

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 11th day of October , 1975, by
