HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 143-07 RESOLUTION NO. 143-07 A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT THE HVAC CONTROL SYSTEM FOR 1600 TRUXTUN AVENUE CANNOT BE REASONABLY OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFOR, AND PURCHASE SAID EQUIPMENT FROM TRANE COMPANY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THE BUDGETED AMOUNT OF $200,000. WHEREAS, the HV AC equipment installed at City Hall, City Hall Annex, the Convention Center and the Ice Sports Arena is controlled by integrated Trane Summit Tracer Control Systems which allow City staff to control the HV AC systems from a single location ; and WHEREAS, the HVAC equipment at 1600 Truxtun Avenue is currently controlled through a separate, non-integrated control system; and WHEREAS, under the current system, troubleshooting and repair work is inefficient because of the lack of an integrated control system; and WHEREAS, in an effort to increase efficiency, facilitate troubleshooting, and increase control of the HVAC system at 1600 Truxtun Avenue, it is necessary to install an Trane Tracer Summit Control which integrates with the control systems for other City-owned facilities; and WHEREAS, installation of the Trane Tracer Summit Control System at 1600 Truxtun Avenue will allow City staff to control the HVAC systems for multiple City-owned facilities from a single location, and the maintenance and repair of the control systems would be accomplished through a single supplier. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1 . The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference. 2. The above-referenced control system can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor (Trane Company) because of the need to successfully integrate such equipment into the existing City system. 3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding, in accordance with Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code. 4.
