AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING THE TABLE OF SECTIONS
OF CHAPTER 14.40, AMENDING SECTION 14.40.010
AND ADDING SECTION 14.40.055 TO THE MUNICIPAL
CODE PROHIBITING SALE OF FIREWORKS TO PERSONS
UNDER THE AGE OF SIXTEEN YEARS.
BE IT ORDAINED by

SECTION 1.
That the Table of Sections under Chapter 14.40 of Title
the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended
to read as follows:

SECTION 2.
That Section 14.40.010 of Chapter 14.40 of Title 14 of
the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to
read as follows:
14.40.010 Sale and Use in the City. No person shall sell or offer
for sale or expose for sale within the City of Bakersfield any fire-
works which are classified as "dangerous fireworks" under Section
12505 of the Health and Safety Code, except that fireworks as are
defined and classified as "safe and sane fireworks" in Section 12529
of the Health and Safety Code may be displayed, sold and used pursuant
to the provisions of this chapter and not otherwise.
SECTION 3.
That Section 14.40.055 is hereby added to Chapter 14.40 of
Title 14 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to read as
follows:
14.40.055 Sale to Persons Under 16 Prohibited. No person shall
sell or transfer any safe and sane fireworks to a person who is
under 16 years of age, from any authorized fireworks stand in the
City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 4.
