AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTION 11.17.020
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE ADDING CERTAIN STREETS
TO THE CENTRAL PARKING MALL.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public health, peace and safety to provide more parking spaces
on certain streets adjacent to the present boundaries of the Parking
Mall; and
WHEREAS, adding such designated streets to the Parking Mall
will require, among other things, that all parking spaces thereon shall
be marked for angle parking, which will help to relieve a severe park-
ing problem in the downtown area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 11.17.020 of Chapter 11.17 of Title 11 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is amended to read as
follows:

Boundaries. The Central Parking Mall shall be comprised
19th and 20th Streets from "H" to Chester Avenue.
19th and 20th Streets from Chester Avenue to "L".
19th and 20th Streets from "G" to "H".
19th and 20th Streets from "L" to '~".
Eye and '~" Streets from 18th Street to 21st Street.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance is an emergency ordinance under Section 24
of the Bakersfield City Charter for the immediate preservation of the
public health, peace, property and safety and shall be effective
immediately upon adoption by a two-thirds vote of the members present.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 9th day of November, 1977, by
