RESOLUTION DETERMINING THAT SATELLITE
RECEIVER VOTING COMPARATORS CANNOT BE
OBTAINED THROUGH THE USUAL BIDDING
PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE
DIRECTOR TO DISPENSE WITH BIDDING THEREFORE,
NOT TO EXCEED $46,000.
WHEREAS, the CITY of Bakersfield is in need of five satellite receiver voting
comparators for replacement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the CITY has had Motorola mobile, portable and fixed radio
equipment in service for the past thirty years and the CITY desires to continue using the
Motorola mobile, portable and fixed radio equipment because of their excellent track
record and acceptance as a standard within the City of Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the CITY desires to integrate the satellite receiver voting
comparators into the existing City radio system; and
WHEREAS, compatible satellite receiver voting comparators are only available
from Motorola Communications, Inc; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director recommends the Council find said satellite
receiver voting comparators can only be reasonably obtained from Motorola
Communications, Inc. because of the need to integrate the product into an existing City
system, recommends that the Council dispense with the bidding, in accordance with
subsection 0.2 of Section 3.20.060 of the Bakersfield Municipal Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above-recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by reference.
2. The Council hereby finds that the purchase of the compatible satellite receiver
voting comparators can only be reasonably obtained from one vendor
(Motorola Communications, Inc) because of the necessity to successfully
integrate such equipment into the existing City system.
3. The Finance Director is authorized to dispense with bidding therefore and to
negotiate the purchase of same, not to exceed $46,000.
