SUBJECT: General Information 1. Capital Vision Equities did not get the 9% tax credits they were seeking for the housing project on California Avenue. In October, there is a 4% round. They feel that with the decrease in interest rates, they can make that work. The 4% tax credits are not competitive as the 9% are. Subject to some additional financial projections, they were quite optimistic about their chances. 2. We are moving forward with landscaping enhancements to the suite owners' lot and replacement of missing or undersized plantings in the Centennial Garden lots. Working may take place in November. The funding source, as you may recall, is about 25% of the $400,000 in beautification money from the mid-year. 3. On the subject of the baseball franchise buy/sell, discussions took place through the Mayor's office. The parties are talking, and a meeting is scheduled for Tuesday. (I understand Council comments on the time frame from the last meeting, but this is one day after the 24th.) 4. We have good news that the Southeast Enterprise Zone has received a five-year extension to 2006. 5. Responses to Council requests are enclosed, as follows: Councilmember Benham · Work Plan for the Downtown Design Charrette Councilmember Sullivan · Inquiry from Panama Baptist Church regarding possible annexation.
