AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD REPEALING SECTION 7.18.100 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE, CONCERNING PAWNSHOP
RECORDS.
WHEREAS, Bakersfield Municipal Code Section 7.18.100
provides that the Chief of Police maintain reports received from
pawnshops and secondhand dealers; and
WHEREAS, California Financial Code, Section 111208, and
California Business and Professions Code, Section 21628, require
pawnshops and secondhand dealers to report purchase of used tangible
property to the Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police files such reports with the
Department of Justice and maintaining of an additional file by the
Chief of Police is a duplication of effort.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
SECTION 1.
That Section 7.18.100 of Chapter 7.18 of Title 7 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days
the date of its passage.
