Commissioner Boyle referred to the lot sizes of the project, and asked if all other portions of the parcel could be designated as common areas; staff replied that theY were, that since originally condominiums had been planned for this site, less than standard lot sizes had been allowed. Mr. Sprague asked if the Planning Department could research the possibility and report back; staff replied that it could. (Negative Declaration on file) ~ A staff report was given; staff recommends approval with conditions. Commissioner Brady requested that Items 8.2a and 8.2b not be placed on the consent agenda. Commissioner Sprague asked if there would be utility towers traversing through the property in the P.G. & E. right of way zone; staff replied that the map showed one tower at the very northwestern portion of the parcel. Mr. Sprague asked if that portion of the site could be landscaped with the permission of P.G. & E. Mr. Sprague also commented that he assumed there would be an agreement between P.G. & E. and the developer allowing parking and landscaping to be permanently installed within that corridor. Staff replied that the developer would normally consult with P.G. & E. Mr. Sprague indicated that P.G. & E. approval should be reflected on the subdivision development map. Commissioner Tavorn asked if deceleration lanes were planned for Granite Road; staff replied that though none were requested nor required by Traffic Engineering at this time, the possibility of such an improvement could be investigated. Commissioner Sprague asked if bus turn-outs had been allocated; staff replied that the information could be requested from G.E.T. Mr. Shapazian replied that Greg Yates had reviewed the project, and that he would be happy to discuss his findings and concerns with him. Mr. Sprague asked if the Planning Department had reviewed the secondary access situation, and if the Fire Department had proVided any input into the design. Staff replied that the Fire Department always had input regarding tract mapsl and-that the absence of comments regarding secondary access indicated that it Was not a matter of concern to the Fire Department. Commissioner Brady asked When the Amtrak station was scheduled for removal from that area; staff replied the old Amtrak station will no longer be in service after July 1, 2000, which is the grand opening date of the new Amtrak station. Commissioner BOyle asked if the high school district was supporting this action; staff replied that Jack Kobard reported that the District was entirely in favor of it.
