HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2241EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 2241 NEW SERIES AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, AMENDING SECTION 11.04.620 OF TITLE 11 (TRAFFIC REGULATIONS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, CONCERNING ESTABLISHMENT OF ONE-WAY STREETS. WHEREAS, a serious traffic circulation problem exists on the streets leading to the Highland High School resulting in eastbound cars on Auburn Street being backed up to Eissler Street, causing traffic congestion, and danger to life and property, to persons attempting to enter the parking lot of said school; and WHEREAS, making Tartan Place a one-way south to north street and Piper Way a one-way north to south street will tend to relieve the traffic congestion and is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace and safety. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: SECTION 1. That subsection 3 be added to subsection C of Section 11.04.620 of Chapter 11.04 of Title 11 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to read as follows: 3. South to North: Tartan Place . Auburn Street to the entrance to the Highland High School parking lot. SECTION 2. That subsection 4 be added to subsection C of Section 11.04.620 of Chapter 11.04 of Title 11 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to read as follows: 4. North to South: Piper Way Highland High School to Auburn Street. SECTION 3. This ordinance is an emergency ordinance under Section 24 of the Bakersfield City Charter for the immediate preservation of the public health, peace, property and safety and shall be effec- tive ir~nediately upon adoption by a two-thirds vote of the members present. .......... o00 ..........
