HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 2240EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 2240 NEW SERIES AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 8.48.040 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING REFUSE COLLECTION. WHEREAS, June 23, 1975, the City Council amended Section 8.48.040 of the Municipal Code to require that refuse be placed adjacent to the curb for collection in those portions of the City where there are no alleys; and WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to omit such require- ment and provide for collection of refuse in the manner which had theretofore been required; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to implement the change of the refuse collection point immediately to provide for the efficient daily operation of the Public Works Department and upon such basis adopt this amendment as an emergency ordinance under the authority of Section 24 of the City Charter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED as follows: SECTION 1. That subsection (b) of Section 8.48.040 of Chapter 8.48 of Title 8 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is hereby amended to read as follows: (b) In those portions of the City where there are no alleys, properly prepared refuse, except grass clippings, leaves or trimmings shall be placed adjoining the private driveway, where feasible, as near the front of the house as practicable, but in no case, more than one hundred (100) feet distant from the curb line adjacent to the street from which such driveway extends. Properly prepared grass clippings, leaves or trirmmings, and any refuse contained in polyethylene or plastic bags shall be placed not more than ten (10) feet from the curb line. SECTION 2. This ordinance is an emergency ordinance under Section 24 of the City Charter and shall become effective immediately. .......... o0o ..........
