AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SECTIONS 3.18.110(d),
3.18.150(i), 3.18.180(i)(1) AND 3.18.200(c)
OF CHAPTER 3.18 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE CON-
CERNING COMPENSATION OF OFFICERS AND
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
That subsection (d) of Section 3.18.110 of Chapter 3.18
of Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(d) Assignment to Higher Classification--Fire Department.
Any eligible Fire Department employee (Fire and Fire Supervisory
Units) who is assigned duties of a higher classification, shall be
paid the wage rate of the higher classification for all the time he
performed such duties, if assigned to such duty for more than one
continuous shift, in accordance with the Administrative Rules and
Regulations. Effective on the first day of the first full pay
period in July, 1976, such employee shall be paid the wage rate of
the higher classification for all the time he performed such duties
if assigned to such duty for one continuous shift, in accordance
with the Administrative Rules and Retulations.
SECTION 2.
That subsection (i) of Section 3.18.150 of Chapter 3.18
of Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(i) Overtime--General Employees Supervisory Unit. Notwith-
standing any section in this Chapter to the contrary, all eligible
General Employees in the Supervisory Unit may be paid for authorized
overtime worked in excess of the established workweek at the
straight-time hourly rate of pay, when the department head deter-
mines it is in the best interest of the operation of his department
and the City of Bakersfield, to authorize such overtime work.
SECTION 3.
That subsection (i)(1) of Section 3.18.180 o~f Chapter
3.18 of Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield
is hereby amended to read as follows:
(1) Police Department Employees. Eligible employees of
the Police Supervisory Unit working on a shift basis shall be paid
at the rate of one times their regular hourly rate of pay for the
8-hour designated holidays of the current fiscal year. Other
eligible Police Department employees working on a shift basis shall
be paid at the rate of one and one-half times their regular hourly
rate of pay for such holidays. One payment for all such holidays
shall be made on the first payday in June of each year. All other
eligible Police Department employees who do not work on a shift basis
shall observe holidays

SECTION 4.
That subsection (c) of Section 3.18.200 of Chapter 3.18
of Title 3 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(c) Eligibility. Except as may be provided in the Salary and
Related Benefits Resolution, probationary and permanent employees
shall be eligible to accrue, use and be paid for sick leave, in
accordance with this section.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days from
and after the date of its passage, and operative from and after
the first day of the first full pay period in July, 1975.
