AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD ADDING SECTIONS 5.38.186
AND 5.38.187 TO CHAPTER 5.38 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE RELIEF AND
PENSION FUND FOR MEMBERS OF THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD.
BE IT ORDAINED by
as follows:

SECTION 1.
That Section 5.38.186 is hereby added to Chapter 5.38
of Title 5 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
5.38.186 Increase in Monthly Allowance - Retirements or Deaths
on or Before December 31, 1970.
(a) The 5 per cent increase in the monthly allowance with
respect to persons retired or members who died on or before
December 31, 1970, effective as of October 1, 1973, pursuant to
minute order of the City Council dated August 13, 1973, is hereby
ratified.
(b) The monthly allowance paid with respect to a person
retired or a member who died on or before December 31, 1970, shall
be adjusted by a 10 per cent increase, to be paid from the surplus
in the fund. Such percentage shall be applied to the allowance
payable on the operative date of this section and the increased
allowance shall be paid for time on and after the date.
SECTION 2.
That Section 5.38.187 is hereby added to Chapter 5.38
of Title 5 of the Municipal Code of the City of Bakersfield to
read as follows:
5.38.187 Increase in Monthly Allowance - Retirements or Deaths
for Period January 1, 1971 to June 30, 1971. The monthly allow-
ance paid with respect to a person retired or a member who died
during the period of January 1, 1971, to June 30, 1971, inclusive,
shall be adjusted by a 5 per cent increase, to be paid from the
surplus in the fund. Such percentage shall be appliE~d to the
allowance payable on the operative date of this section and the
increased allowance shall be paid for time on and after that date.
SECTION 3.
This ordinance shall be effective 30 days after its
adoption and shall be operative on July 1, 1975.
