Request from Sportservice to Increase the Price Charged for Drinks MEMORANDUM December 17, 1991 TO: J. DALE HAWLEY - CITY MANAGER FROM: LELAND J. ANDERSEN -'COMMUNITY SERVICES MANAGER "%~"/ SUBJECT: PRICE INCREASES (LIQUOR & PARKING) AT THE CONVENTION CENTER At the Citizen's Convention Center Committee meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 1991, two price increase items were discussed. The firSt item was in regard to a proposed increase for alcoholic beverages sold by Sportservice at the Convention Center. Sportservice cited the reasons for the increase in drink prices in their letter to you dated November 13, 1991, which I have attached. The Committee conducted an open discussion on this matter and felt that the increases were justified and supported the proposal..The Committee's support was based on the fact that Sportservice has not raised their drink prices in the four years since they signed the contract with the City even though additional taxes and distributor increases on alcoholic beverages have occurred. The second item discussed was in regard to a proposed increase in the fee for parking in the Convention Center parking lot. The proposed increase would be to raise the fee from one dollar ($1.00) to two dollars ($2.00) per car, per entry. Also the option to purchase the lot by organizations holding special events would increase from two hundred fifty ($250) to three hundred ($300) per day. The current rates have been in effect since December, 1980. After a short discussion, the committee agreed that there would be no detrimental impact on the community due to the increases and supported the proposal. It is suggested the rate increase .for parking become effective July 1, 1992, and that an additional increase be considered in two years. If you have any questions in regard to either of these items, please contact me at your convenience. TO: J. DaLe HawLey .. City Manager . . PRDH: Pamela 'Shipley · .
