A. KERN RIVER PARKWAY FOUNDATION DONATION OF LABOR AND
MATERIALS FOR PROPOSED PROJECT ON THE KERN RIVER BIKE
PATH
At its January 11, 1995 meeting the Council referred to this Committee a proposal
from the Kern River Parkway Foundation to install an irrigation system and plant
trees within the Kern River Parkway near Truxtun and Coffee.
Greg Polubinsky of Martin-Mclntosh, the landscape architect for the project, and
Fay Cox, Coordinator of Governmental Affairs with Texaco, Inc. discussed the
project with the Committee and City staff. The Parkway Foundation will be
providing labor and materials to install irrigation and trees. Funding for the
project will be provided by Texaco.
Similar projects on the Parkway have been successfully completed by these
organizations in the past. The Committee requested that all plans and
specifications be reviewed and approved by the Parks Division and Public Works
and that all work be supervised by City staff.
Based on the above, the Committee recommends a report go to the full Council
on February 8, asking the Council to accept the report and approve the Kern
River Parkway Foundation's request to comPlete the project at Truxtun and Coffee
Road.
