Dear Kevin: At a meeting of the Bakersfield City Council's Convention Center and Community Services Committee held on February 25, 1991, the issue of Little League facilities was discussed. Z' informed them of the initial ~onversation between you and Z on or around November 26, 1990, regarding your intention to form a Northeast Little League and your request to be allowed to use one of the diamonds at the Bakersfield Sports Complex for this league. Z also explained to them that Z had suggested to you that you contact Bakersfield College to reserve their diamond since I could not commit, the City diamonds not knowing what our requirements would be during the spring. Finally, I told them of our lal;est c~nversat~_on c~ February 7, 1991, at Whic.h time you informed me that your plans had changed, that it was too late for this year-but you wou3d try to get the ]eague started beginning in 1992. The Council Committee, after a brief discussion, directed that I correspond with you and inform you that should you desire in the future, the Recreation Division will work with you and assist you in securing facilities for your Little League .operation. Castle & Cooke is excited about participating in the project which is envisioned to be a great benefit to the neighborhood as well as to the City of Bakersfield, and which will also provide community residents with enhanced recreational opportunities. We wish to request that the Council consider issues relating to financing and maintenance as they affect the General Plan Amendment currently being reviewed by the Commission.
