Subject: REFERRAL OF PROPOSED O~TNANCE RE PROHIBITED ACTS
IN PARKS.
Please refer the following proposed ordinance to whichever com-
mittee you deem appropriate:
1. PROHIBITED ACTS IN PARKS.
Background:
The parks department has received complaints from park
users and residents neighboring parks that baseballs
(hardballs) are being thrown in the parks, endangering
others using the parks. This ordinance will prohibit
the use of baseballs.

ORDINANCE NO. , NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AMENDING SUBSECTION A. OF SECTION
12.56.050 OF THE BAKERSFIELD MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO PROHIBITED ACTS IN PARKS.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Subsection A. of Section 12.56.050 of the Bakersfield
Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
12.56.050 Prohibited acts in parks.
Within the limits of any park, it is unlawful for any
person, other than a duly authorized City employee in the perform-
ance of his duty, to do any of the following:
A. Play or practice golf or archery, fly motor-driven
model aircraft, or throw or hit a baseball (hardball) except in
areas which may be specifically designated and posted for such
purposes.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall be posted in accordance with the
City Charter provisions and shall become effective thirty (30)
days from and after the date of its passage.
