1. Smoking
Committee reviewed tobacco products vending machine survey. 'Staff
(Slater/Lunardini) to compose letter to tobacco vending machine companies
doing business in Bakersfield strongly urging the voluntary placement of
vendors' machines in places inaccessible to minors or under the adequate
supervision of attendants. Staff to continue monitoring proposed state
smoking legislation.
2. Campaign Contributions Limitations
Staff to review available information and considerations, including in-lieu ·
campaign support.
3. AB 1484 - Emergency Medical Services
Committee reviewed City Manager letter in opposition to AB 1484.
4. Legislation Update
SB 450 - follow-up'support letter will be sent by staff to the Senate Floor
SB 501 - golden handshake; additional employee service credit; information
only
Proposed transportation cuts; staff to monitor
SB 36 - Brown Act; re-referred to Senate Appropriations Committee
