CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
Under general supervision, diverts, regulates, delivers, and
measures irrigation water on a ~,houK rotational-shift basis,
including weekends, holidays, and declared emergencies;
responsible for ditch security; reports on ditch conditions;
works in crews removing debris from canals; and other duties as
required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
On an assigned shift, regulates water flow, as'directed, at heads
of canals or water delivery systems; regulates weirs to transport
water; regulates gates for water delivery as directed; records
measurements; performs minor repairs and maintenance on
structures; cuts weeds and removes trash from canals; corrects
minor defects of ditches; reports major defects in canal banks
and structures due to washing, erosion, etc; reports rodent
activity, aquatic and other weed growth status; reports, all
potential canal right-of-way encroachments, vandalism, and
trespassing; keeps all measuring devices free from trash and in
good operating condition; reports inoperative measuring devices;
works on maintenance and construction of canal facilities;
performs routine debris removal on canal facilities; operates
light equipment for weed control activities; mixes weed controi
formulas for spraying; and other canal related duties as
required.
DESIRABLE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

operation of heavy and complex automotive equipment such as
graders, backhoes, and heavy dump trucks; front loading dump
trucks, clamshell'skip loaders, and performs other work as
required.

Operates a motor grader or bulldozer for leveling and rough
grading.on streets; operates a backhoe for removing concrete and
rough grading; operates skiploaders loading materials in trucks, or

" CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:
Under general direction, supervises all .aspects of the
department's property functions, including' general and
specialized supervision of assigned staff; is responsible to
.management for developing and maintaining efficient procedures
and operations pertaining to the receipt, storage, accounting,
· . retrieval, control and disposition of all seized property,
including associated records, forms, reports, related statistical
information and budget control.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Supervises and schedules civilian staff assigned to the property
room section; directs and carries out the day to day receipt and
storage 'of property booked into the section; supervises and
directs the proper and timely disposition of property; ensures
property is inventoried and accounted for; provides for regularly
scheduled property disposition such as periodic auctions,
narcotics "burns" and firearms auction .and destruction as
required by law; analyzes current and future property storage
needs; prepares and manages budget expenditures; .develops and
makes recommendations to modernize and improve operations and

CLASS CHARACTERISTIC~
Under direct supervision, receives, stores, orders, and issues a
variety of automotive and equipment parts, materials, and supplies;
and performs other work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- °
Orders, receives, inspects and stores automotive parts used in the
repair and maintenance of a fleet of passenger vehicles or gasoline
· and diesel p6wered maintenance, construction, police and fire
'equipment, together with a variety of auxiliary equipment; issues
parts for the repair of engines, clutches, carburetors, fuel.
injection, generators, alternators, distributors, starters,
steering assemblies, front end, transmission, differentials,, drive
lines, electrical systems, brake systems and hydraulic systems;
issues substitute parts on the basis of knowledge of
interchangability of parts; picks up parts from automotive and
equipment parts suppliers; insures maintenance of minimum supply
levels through visual inspection and advises superiors regarding

Under general supervision performs work of average difficulty
involving technical office and~field work preparing, interpreting,
and enforcing standards and policies as they may pertain to the
construction and maintenance of parks and landscaped public right-
of-ways. Work includes, laying out and drafting original plans and
computing and 6hecking mathematical calculations; responsibilities
focus on areas of drafting, plan checking, inspection of landscape
installations; work is carried out under the general direction of
the Superintendent of Parks and is reviewed by inspection of
results; performs other work as required.
EX3kMPLES OF DUTIES:
Drafts plans, for minor park improvement projects; prepares
estimates and feasibility studies; provides construction inspection
and administration; consults with 'staff, commissions, and
government agencies regarding development projects; keeps files of
construction projects and other pertinent documents; surveys and
analyzes statistical information, -systems and opinions as they
apply to the Parks Division; consults with community groups to
receive inpUt for capital projects; evaluates existing development

data and field survey notes; ability to carry out research work for
