Interviews of Consultant Firms for Classification Study Comp Plus Ralph Andersen & Associates Reward Strategy Group PERSONNEL COMMITTEE COMPREHENSIVE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION'STUDY CONSULTANT SELECTION SUGGESTED INTERVIEW QUESTIONS July 29, 1991 1. Please briefly explain your firms experience in conducting a study of this scope. How do you propose concluding the study successfully in this time frame?' 2. At the conclusion of the study, how will the results be presented to facilitate implementation by the Council and management?' 3. How do you intend to reflect the compensation philosophy of the Council? How would you address pOtential differences in compensation philosophy between Council members? 4. Describe how you would respond in the following scenario: After evaluating an employee's position, you .determine he/she is OVER classified, and should be reclassified to a lower position. The employee requests an appeal to your finding, and during the course of an interview with you, becomes belligerent and verbally abusive. 5. What number of cities or agencies do you feel constitute an appropriate, valid base for comparison for compensation purposes? Do you think it appropriate to use public and private organizations? What cities or agencies do you recommend for use in conducting the compensation portion of the study? What is the basis of your justification? 6. What is the role of the 'Civil Service Commissions in relation to this study? What of the role of the bargaining units?
