A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A ZERO TOLERANCE OF
CRIME AND GANG VIOLENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, crime and gang activity represent a constant threat to the safety and
well-being of our communityl and
WHEREAS, our community suffers an inordinate loss of resources as a result of
crime and gang violence; and
WHEREAS, the attraction of our youth to gangs is a detriment to our community;
and
WHEREAS, City Council recognizes and supports the efforts of the Bakersfield
Police Department and other law enforcement personnel in its efforts to reduce crime and
gang violence within our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals and findings are true and correct.
That the City Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby adopts a "zero
tolerance" of crime and gang violence within our community.
That the City Council of the City of Bakersfield encourages our community
to work together and provide viable alternatives which divert our youth from
participating in harmful gang related activities.
That the City Council of the City of Bakersfield supports aggressive
enforcement and strong prosecution of all perpetrators.
