A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SEXUAL PREDATOR
LAW AND OPPOSING THE RELEASE OF ANDRE
BRADFORD INTO KERN COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Corrections has designated the City of
Bakersfield, in the County of Kern, as the location for parolee, Mr. Andre Bradford; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Andre Bradford is a convicted sexual assault criminal; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield believes Mr. Andre Bradford is a danger to our
society and his release would not be in the best interest 0f our community; and
WHEREAS, the Sexual Predator Law has been judicially ruled not applicable to Mr.
Bradford; and
WHEREAS, if the Sexual Predator Law was applicable to Mr. Bradford, he would
be required to be psychiatrically evaluated before his release into a community; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield City Council supports the Sexual Predator Law and
urges that it be adopted by our state legislature as emergency legislation; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield City Council desires the Sexual Predator Law to apply
to Mr. Bradford and other convicted sexual assault criminals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the C~uncil of the City of Bakersfield
as follows:
1. The above recitals and findings are true and correct.
The Bakersfield City Council vehemently' opposes the release of Mr.
Bradford into our community.
The Bakersfield City Council strongly supports the Sexual Predator Law and
urges its immediate passage by the California Legislature, as emergency
legislation, if necessary.
