As you recall, I own some apartments at 1300 & 1316 H street right next to your building at 1326 H Street. In an effort to improve place I'm planning on landscaping the grounds in addition to replacing the rusting chain-link fence with a white picket fence complete with a pergola down the center of the property. I've enclosed an aerial 'plan' as well as a 'rough' 'artist's conception' of what the new fencing/pergola might look like. The reason I'm contacting you is that the City of Bakersfield requires that a fence be 10 feet back from the property line. Since putting the fence back this far would require actual modification of the buildings, this fence would need to continue to remain at the property line and as such needs the approval of my 'neighbors' to gain a 'City Variance'. I'm enclosing the original signature sheet with the signatures of the other neighbors on it. If you, the owners of the 1326 H facility are indeed comfortable with the proposed fence- modification/improvement, I would appreciate your signing, dating, and putting your address on the appropriate lines; and then returning this to me at the address. below.
