HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 172-95(2) RESOLUTION NO. 172-95(2) AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO RESOLUTION NO. 172-95 APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN OBSOLETE CITY RECORDS, DOCUMENTS, INSTRUMENTS, BOOKS AND PAPERS, PURSUANT TO SECTION 34090, ET SEQ. OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA {CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE). WHEREAS, on November 8, 1995, the City Council approved Resolution No. 172- 95 approving the destruction of certain obsolete City records, documents, instruments, books and papers in the charge of the City Attorney; and WHEREAS, on September 10, 1997, the City Council approved an amendment to Resolution No. 172-95 approving the destruction of certain additional obsolete City records, documents, instruments, books and papers in the charge of the City Attorney; and WHEREAS, Section 34090, et seq of the California Government Code permits, with certain exceptions, the head of a city department to destroy any City record, document, instrument, book or paper under his/her charge, without making a copy thereof, after the same is no longer required with the approval of the City Council by resolution and the written consent of the City Attorney; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney's Office created a retention schedule which meets statutory. and City practice requirements to allow for further destruction of obsolete records.
