This retaining wall would run along the back of the sidewalk on the east side 'of Union Avenue between Monte Vista Drive and Columbus Street, adjacent to the Garces Memorial High School property. Plans and Calculations have been prepared by Martin-McIntosh. However, the plans are for only the northerly portion of the wall. The school principal says the project changed so that a retaining wall is now needed along the entire Union Avenue frontage, but that most of the retaining wall along the southerly portion is only 1.5'-2'high and that the appropriate cross section will be used based upon the height of soil retained. They still must obtain a building permit for the retaining wall construction, and will have to satisfy the Building Department.
