Pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 3140 New Series of the City of
Bakersfield, the undersigned applies for a permit to place, erect and/or maintain
an encroachment on public property or right of way as therein defined.

Linden Street On the south side of Panorama Drive
Applicant agrees that if this application is granted, applicant will indemnify,

. employees against and from all damages, judgments, claims, demands, expenses,
costs and expenditures, and against all loss or liability which the City of
Bakersfield or such officers, agents or employees may suffer, or which may be
recoverable from, or obtainable against the City of Bakersfield or such officers,
agents or employees, proximately caused by, growing out of or in any way
connected with the placing, erection or maintenance of said encroachment, the
applicant further agrees to maintain the aforesaid encroachment..:during the lif~

application is made, if granted, or upon the revocation thereof by the City
Engineer, applicant will at his own cost and expense remove the same from the

Dear Mr. Shaffer:
You and I met with Mr. Frank Maitia on October 12, 1988 to work out a solu-
tion to the problems caused by transients and vandals who tend to congre-
gate under the oleanders be~ween your properties. It seems that with
construction of the addition to the mausoleum they may find the area even
more inviting.
We agreed that cutting the oleanders back some distance from the curb line
and then running a six foot high chainlink fence from the northwest corner
of the mausoleum addition around the oleanders then back along the olean-
ders on Mr. Maitia's would help correct this situation. I have discussed
this with the Traffic Engineer and Public Works Manager and they have
agreed to grant an encroachment permit to put the fence in if it is kept
six feet back from the curb and the oleanders between the curb and fence
are removed.
Enclosed is an application for encroachment permit and a location drawing
which I have prepared for your signature. An application fee of $65 is
required with its submittal.
