The nature or description of the encroachment for which this application is
made is as follows: FRONT 'DOORS TO SWING OPEN INTO RIGHT-OF-WAY 32" TO MEET
BUILDING CODE, WROUGHT IRON RAILING 34" LONG BY 42" HIGH ON EACH SIDE OF DOORS
FOR PROTECTION AGAINST PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC, (SEE ATTACHED SKETCH).
The location of the proposed encroachment is: 1712 CHESTER AVE. HABERFELDE
BUILDING, WEST SIDE.
Applicant agrees that if this application is granted, applicant will indemnify,
defend and hold harmless the City of Bakersfield, its agents, officers and
employees against and from all damages, judgments, claims, demands, expenses,
costs and expenditures, and against all loss or liability which the City of
Bakersfield or such officers, agents or employees may suffer, or which may be
recoverable from, or obtainable against the City of Bakersfield or such
officers, agents or employees, proximately caused by , growing out of or in any
way connected with the placing, erection or maintenance of said encroachment,
the applicant futher agrees to maintain the aforesaid encroachment during the
life of the said enc'roachment or until such time that this permit is revoked.
Applicant further agrees that upon the expiration of the permit for which this
application is made, if granted, or upon the revocation thereof by the City
Engineer, applicant will at his own cost and expense remove the same from the
public property or right of way where the same is located, and restore said
public property or right of way to the condition as nearly may be in which it
was before the placing, erection,: maintenance or existence of said
encroachment.

INSTALLATION OF WROUGHT IRON RAILINGS

Engineering and Traffic staff have reviewed the attached encroachment permit and recommend it be approved.
The permit is to allow doors for the entrance to Bananaz and Beerz, a sport's bar being constructed in the
Haberfelde Building, to open onto the sidewalk area within the street right-of-way, and to allow for the
installation of 42" high wrought iron railings in the sidewalk on either side of the doors to protect pedestrians
walking on the sidewalk from the opening doors.
