BAKERSFIELD DESIGN REVIEW BOARD
Mid-Month Meeting - February 19, 1980
The Mid-Month Meeting of the Bakersfield Design Review Board was
called to order by Chairman-vvomack, Tuesday, February 19, ~980, at 4 p.m.,
in the Caucus Room of City Hall.
The secretary called the roll icS follows:

Mr. wallace Jones, American, Business Machines
Mr. Bidwell introduced Mr. Donald Renfro, new alternate member
appointed by the Redevelopment Agency on January 22, 1980.
MINUTES
The minutes of the January 15, 1980, Mid-Month Meeting were
approved as mailed.
PROJECTS
a) Haberfelde Building [Landscaping) - Mr. Aires, representative,
presented a drawing showing proposed locations for forty-eight trees along
Chester Avenue and 17th Street. At, this time the species has not been
decided, nor the spacing or maintenance policy. Dale Hawley, Director of
Public Works, stated that all corners and alleys must be kept clear and
the tree size must allow people to walk safely underneath and must not
interfere with traffic. '

Following discussion, it, was the consensus of the Board that
the design is incomplete at this time. On a motion by Mr. Renfro,
seconded by Mr. Van Horn, and carried, the Board asked Mr. Aires to
resubmit the plan when complete including type of trees, spacing, size,
and'a maintenance plan.

b) American Business Machines (Signage) - Mr. Wallace JCnles presented
a drawing for a 32 square foot wall sign with illuminated lettc:s for his
business located at 821' - 18th g,::reet. Proposed signage is well within

Following discussion, on a motion by Mr. Van Horn, seconded by
Mr. Sorenson, and carried, the Board approved the signage as submitted.

Design Review Board, Chairman Womack adjourned the meeting at 4:40 p.m.
