ARESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD SETTING RATES FOR WATER SERVICE
IN THE BAKERSFIELD WATER SERVICE AREA.
WHEREAS, when the City of Bakersfield acquired from
Tenneco West Inc. the Ashe Water System, now known as the Bakersfield
Water System, the rate structure was inadequate because due to the
impending transfer of assets to the city, Tenneco had not sought
rate increases from the Public Utilities Commission even though
entitled to them; and
WHEREAS, the rate structure of California Water Service
Company throughout the city is in a disproportionate difference
from that in the Bakersfield system; and
WHEREAS, the rate structure for water service should be
uniform throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, adjustment of rates will put the Bakersfield
system into a financially feasible position and will equalize rates
with that of California Water Service Company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The rates for water service within the B~kersfield
Water Service Area will be as set forth in the attached document
labeled "Exhibit A."

and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
