HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 14-77RESOLUTION NO. 14- 7 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD CONCERNING SHORTAGE OF WATER, DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ON METHODS OF CONSERVATION, AND URGING REDUCTION OF PER- SONAL USE OF WATER AND ELIMINATION OF WASTE OF AVAILABLE WATER SUPPLIES. WHEREAS, the State of California, the County of Kern, and the City of Bakersfield are experiencing a severe and extreme shortage of water for all uses and purposes; and WHEREAS, surface and imported supplies of water other- wise available to-K~r~.Coun~y'-and the City of Bakersfield have been drastically curtailed; and WHEREAS, groundwater supplies will be further reduced and groundwater tables will be lowered substantially, resulting in additional energy and economic costs; and. WHEREAS, both the iff~f~ediate and long-range prospects for obtaining more water and correcting the current situation do not appear promising at the present time; and WHEREAS, it is most important that all agencies, persons, and businesses work together to conserve and promote the efficient utilization of available water. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. That studies be initiated to develop and disseminate information to the public on methods and procedures designed to conserve water and that the City cooperate with other appropriate public agencies to this end. 2. That everyone is urged and encouraged to reduce per- sonal and dom~l& ~ 6~ ~at~ By ~ ~6~ ~ ~i~le. 3.
