A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD OPPOSING PROPOSITION 14
ON THE NOVEMBER 2 BALLOT.
WHEREAS, Proposition 14, a farm labor measure will be on
the November 2 ballot; and
WHEREAS, the principal purpose of the proposition, the
right for workers to decide which union, if any, should represent
them, is already provided in the Agricultural Labor Relations Act;
and
WHEREAS, the initiative removes from the legislature the
necessary budgetary controls; and
WHEREAS, the proposition, if passed, would create a law
that could only be changed by another ballot measure, thus preventing
the legislature from making modifications and removing the flexibility
so vital to the changing needs of labor relations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Bakersfield
City Council be on record opposing Proposition 14.for the specific
reasons stated in the resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was passed
and adopted by the C~uncil of the City of Bakersfi'eld at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 25th day of October, 1976, bythe
following vote:
