HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 134-08RESOLUTION NO. 1 ,V 4 - ~ S A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ADOPTING THE RE- DESIGNATION OF THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SYSTEM INTERMODAL CONNECTOR RECITALS WHEREAS, the National Highway System (NHS) Intermodal Connector as currently designated begins at State Route (SR)-99, extends East on 24th Street, then South on "F" Street, and then West on California Avenue returning back to SR-99; and WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield approved the vacation of "F" Street from the north right of way line of 14th Street to the north right of way line of the B.N.S.F. Railway on September 23, 1998 with Resolution No. 141-98; and WHEREAS, because of the vacation of "F" Street (as set forth above), the current Intermodal Connector no longer serves its purpose; and WHEREAS, the Intermodal Connector needs to be re-designated to serve Amtrak Bus, Greyhound Bus, and the new Amtrak Train Station; and WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield proposes to re-designate the NHS Intermodal Connector to begin at SR-99, extend East on California Avenue, then North on "H" Street, and then West on 18t" Street to arrive at the Greyhound bus station at the northeast corner of 18th and "F" Street; and WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield also proposes to re-designate the NHS Intermodal Connector to extend Easton California Avenue, then North on "Q" Street, and then Easton Truxtun Avenue to arrive at 601 Truxtun Avenue, the location of the Amtrak Station; and WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield desires to adopt these new routes to serve the needs for both the State and City, by providing an appropriate access to Greyhound bus and the Amtrak train station. This new NHS route will provide an appropriate access for the 200,000 passengers that use these transportations every year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by reference. 2. The new National Highway System Intermodal Connector as shown ono~~AKF9~-~ m 1- r - Page 1 of 4 Pages - `~ o ORIGINAL Exhibit A is hereby recommended to be approved and adopted by required local, state and federal agencies. 3.
